Exit: A poem by John Totten

Exit

Today I took my own vote…

one you could not kill

Today I burned an old rope

Redemption held me still

Today I took a breath…

with eyes drawn to the hill

Today I drank mercury

Nature had it’s fill

Today I convict my hope…

‘my’ gentle little crime

Today I dream of home

I must exit this time
